FAQ

Q: How long will it take me to drive

A: There is no hard and fast rule to the length of time it takes to learn to drive  - every individual is different.

Q: Will my eyesight be tested on the day of the test

A: Yes, the distance requirement for the old-style number plate is 20.5 metres. The distance requirement for the eyesight test with the new-style number plate is 20 metres. New-style number plates were introduced on 1 September 2001 and are easily identifiable because they start with two letters ie AB51 ABC.

Q:What age can I start learning to drive

A: The earliest date your provisional licence can become valid is your 17th birthday, however you can apply for the licence up to three months before your 17th birthday.

Q: Do I need to pass the Theory Test before I can start my driving lessons?

A: No.  You can learn the theory whilst you are learning to drive. This will  make it easier to understand and remember.

Q:How long does the practical test last

A:The Test lasts 35 – 45 minutes and is conducted by a Driving Standards Agency Examiner.
